Owning three dogs. What is it like?
I have two dogs at the moment, a male mix who is 5 and a female springer who will be 1 next friday.
So being the huge dog lover that I am I really would like three dogs. I understand that this is a HUGE commitment. But is there a big difference going from 2-3 dogs?
What would be the best gender of dog to get with already owning a male and female?
I have already decided that If I was to get a third dog it would be an Airedale Terrier. After emailing several breeders and owners asking whether or not it would be best to rescue or purchase a puppy they have said that because of the breed requirements it is best to get one from a puppy in order to have a well behaved and balanced dog.
So can people give me any advise on what it will be like owning three dogs, before I make the huge life changing decision.
Hmmmmm. Can't give you any idea about owning 3 dogs because I have 9 and a foster right now and I really can't remember what it was like with less than 5.
All of my dogs are rescued except my Lab. Some came by the way of a shelter, my vet's office, rescue group.
Some came young, middle aged and some were puppies.
The only advice I can give you with a 'pack' is to establish with each dog where the leadership in the house is.
I do not allow my dogs to dominate each other. Some people think that is okay, but I look at it as not respecting me and any other human in my home as the leader.
You establish that and you will have very few problems.

I've done the research, but can vary greatly, some say they are very distant, even with their owners, and are difficult to train, while others say they are the sweetest dogs, and moderately easy to train. Most web sites say completely different things about race, and I have contacted some breeders who appears on the website of the parent club, might even say different things. So you please tell me your experience with this race. Blunt object, or rather Tony? Get a life, nobody cares about your opinion of this forum, and you're just a nuisance, if not going to answer the question OH, NO answer to the question. Its pathetic.
