What is the difference between AKC and NKC?
My fiance just got a NKC American Bulldog Puppy. He is the great great grandson of champion Braudzilla. Are American Bulldogs able to be registered as AKC and is NKC as legit as AKC?
AKC stands for American Kennel Club, they've been around since 1884 and is MUCH bigger than the NKC.
The NKC is the National Kennel Club, they started only in 1969 and accept any "purebred" dog. But since they accept more breeds than the AKC does, it's different standards. Most people use the AKC standards since they tend to be harsher about accepting new "breeds" into recognition.
American Bulldogs can not at this time be registered with the AKC.
