We are getting a akc lab female and wanted to know how much to feed her?
We have had little dogs and the vet told us to feed him as much as he can eat in one sitting.... im not so sure if that was right?? Im sure the breeder will go over it all with us but i just wanted to so see what everyone else thinks... But wanted to see what other people think because everyone has a diff opinion..even as vets....
and also the vet i go to tells us to use Science Diet.. I dont know if thats just the brand they us and all but for a lab whats the best foods...and like i said im sure the breeder will tell us ..i just want to make sure she gets all the food she needs to eat and which brand is better for bigger dogs...thanks..

you're right! the breeder will or should go over all of this with you. Science diet isn't crap.Most dogs can survive on anything with a decent crude protein percentage and a semi low crude fat content. But also don't let a breeder tell you that you HAVE to feed your dog a certain brand of food. I love my med size dog like he's my child and i feed mine an all natural diet. It's much easier on their digestive system than most of the commercial foods cuz it's made w/ stuff we would eat. Most ppl say to look at the ingrediants on the back of the bag, if you don't know what stuff is and/or wouldn't eat it yourself, don't buy it for your loved pup.It will cost you a bit more but is well worth the health and happiness of your dogAlso, most larger pet stores or feed stores may carry raw food diets to give as you see fit as a supplement w/ dry food and your dog will love you for it.It is the best for digestion cuz all dogs are decendants of wild dogs that ate only raw food that they could catch. Look it up for yourself, you'll see.

I need help with AKC registration?
Hi, I was given two yellow lab puppies males. The breeder gave us free .. They come with shots, vet records, wormings, some of the food items necessary for puppies using.and .. I have taken to the vet and the vet says they are very healthy and beautiful sunset .. (Also played with the father and mother, soo nice and healthy) So my question is this: In the AKC registration document ... where it says the dog's name ... put their names at home .. I was on the understanding that is not the name you call them, but a special unique name .. If so, have any idea on a single pair good name? .. I'm new in having puppies .. so far so good .. I hope to do agility or sar or with the kids .. All suggestions and ideas are useful .. thanks
You can put any name you want .. Most people who are put on display and playing a fancy name there with a kennel name so its known, the dog is and where it came. You can come with any unique name you want and put it there .. provided they conform to the space characters (if someone already has a laboratory with the name you chose, AKC added Roman numerals to the name) There are also some rules .. can not have words like "dog", "B * Tch, "" Champion ", the names of race, etc. You can simply put your name on the call if you wish, but you can have fun and be creative with names too.
