Should I register my pug with the AKC?
We bought a pug from a breeder 4 days ago. The breeder gave me the registration papers to register her with the AKC if I wished. I told her I'm not planning on breeding her, am going to spay her and just want a family pet. She said she recommended registering with the AKC anyway just incase I have to sell her. (which I don't plan on doing either) Is it really that important?
AKC papers aren't just for people interested in showing or breeding. They preserve your dogs heritage, they give a means of contacting you if a problem should arise with health, etc in the breeders line, the aid the breeder in keeping track of puppies produced by a particular female and/or male, they give proof of ownership, etc.
