How come Veiltail Betta's are not recognized by the IBC?
If anything, besides the Plakat, the Veiltail should be the standard in Betta Breeds. How can the newly developed other tail types take precedence over what is considered the most common breed?
Veiltails came from selective breeding from Plakats from Thailand, and every other type came from the Veiltails. In my mind thats like the AKC deciding not to recognize the golden retreiver and poodle, but recognizing the Golden Doodle which is the cross of the two breeds.
Veiltails are common in the pet trade market, but among any betta breeders you'll vaguely find them. I guess IBC doesn't feel that the veiltail has show standards. I'm sure if someone tried hard enough they would get recognized.
