We are thinking of getting a weimaraner. Does anyone have one?
We have a wirehaired dachshund already who can be "barky" at other big dogs. We want a puppy at first, are they good together? I cannot seem to find a breeder near Houston. Do you keep papers (AKC,UKC) on it?
My sister in law has a Weimeraner, and she is not too bright, but behaves well around my two small dogs. She doesn't seem to be aware of her size, so she can tend to get a bit rough, and must always be supervised during play. I would suggest checking out a rescue organization instead of going through a breeder. I will post a link for an organization in Texas below.

AKC? CCC? And what to do?
Okay so I really have many questions, but I'll put em all here .... First. I adopted a 4yr old female weimaraner. The story behind she is my cousin's house was burned and he was living in an apartment and there was no space for your dog .... So, I took the dog and have had for a few months. My cousin says he is registered but has no papers and not even remember what the record is less. Is there a way I can get these documents? Next. Only out of curiosity, what is the difference between AKC and CKC registration? I know people say AKC is better, but why? Thanks in advance.!
Unless there is a microchip that links to the AKC registration, would be difficult to obtain documents about it unless you can contact your breeder and get a bill of sale and information. If you are not race or show it really does not matter - save yourself a lot of problems. AKC has been longer and is better known in the world of show dogs. Very nice of you to save the life of the apartment - it was a kind thing to do. We hope you enjoy it!
