I am a breeder...one of our puppies umbelical cord was chewed off too short and now has developed a small hern
alapaha blue blood bulldogs, this is our first litter. All the puppies are very healthy.
A umbilical hernia is not uncommon and can be easily surgically repaired later or, the Dog can live fine with it if does not have other problems.
Just keep the area clean and guard against infection until the area is healed.
My German Shepherd Male has/had the same type hernia, and he is fine. I chose not to have it repaired as my Vet said he will be fine.
You should plan on having this repaired if you are going to sell the dog and would be proper for the potential buyer's sake to do so.
Don't listen to some of these other people. The hateful people must be out in force tonight!
