Should I buy this field for my dogs?
I have 4 Siberian Huskies and 2 Alaskan Malamutes and right now they are living in my backyard (yes they are outside dogs) but soon I want to move them into a field that is up for sale(except for one that is nursing a litter of puppies). The field is half an acre with a 7 foot chain link fence going around the entire area.It's about a 10 minute or so drive from my house, there are no houses around that area so I really don't have to worry about annoying any neighbors with the dogs barking and howling.I have gone and inspected the field and everything is good to go. I'll still go and check on them a few times every day and keep them up to date on their shots and heartworm preventative. Does it sound like a good idea?
I am not a breeder and the reason I want to move them to field is because my yard is waayyyy to small and plus the neighbors are constanly complaining about the dogs barking.
I could never live with my dogs out of my sight. You have no idea who might climb in there and steal, free, or poison your dogs. A dog could get hung on the fence trying to escape, and be dead by the time you showed up. What if there was a dog fight, and somebody got trashed because you weren't there to stop it?
Dogs aren't livestock that can be "pastured". This sounds like an incredibly bad idea.
If space and neighbors are a problem, you have two options: Move to a bigger place, or find homes for some of your dogs.
