All Cities In California Q&A
Why do so many cities in California have Hispanic names?
San Diego, San Juan, San Francisco, Los Angeles - all hispanic names! When did this happen? Isn't this just pandering to the immigrants? Why don't we change the names back to American names?
Q. Why do so many cities in California have Hispanic names?
A. Because California used to be part of Mexico.
Q. When did this happen?
A. When the cities were founded. On average, I would say the late 1700's.
Q. Isn't this just pandering to the immigrants?
A. No, because the "immigrants" were the English-speaking persons who came from the rest of the United States during the gold rush. Mexicans were in California first.
Q. Why don't we change the names back to American names?
A. Unless you mean whatever the Chumash, Pechanga, etc., called the cities before whites arrived, they had no prior names to which they could change "back".

All Cities In California Q&A
For all you horse lovers!?
Hello Everyone! I want a horse really bad! I've always wanted, as long as I can remember. Problem? I live in the city. California, close to LB. For those of you who are familiar with, this means that I am limited to where one can own. Shipping is a lot of money in the city. But I still desperately want one. Can anyone tell me what you need to consider before getting your first horse. I know a little about maintaining, but not much. web pages would be good to reference. Always owned animals, poultry, birds, reptiles, dogs, cats, fish, amphibians, exotic species, etc. So I know animals occupy much of his time. I probably not be able to get one until after graduation from veterinary school. HAHAHA! I say that as if it were even close to graduating, I can not even applied yet! lol Please help! I do not know where I have to start.
Good for you to begin to learn more before jumping to the great responsibility and the cost! Definitely recommend take classes and spend time around horses if not already done so. Get used to handling, preparation, collection, feet, etc definitely want to be able to this when you own a horse. Besides learning by doing, make a lot of reading and researching. Cherry Hill is an author who has written a lot of good books based on horse care and breeding. Here is a website with some good basic information about horse care: http://www.acreageequines.com/HorseCare/ Learn the basics of horses (anatomy, routine care, common illnesses and diseases, behavior, nutrition, care, etc.) It is not really necessary to know in depth knowledge at first, but it is always a good idea to keep learning! For example, you need not know how become a horse to show the level of a superior right off the bat. But knowing basic training at first and expand their knowledge on the go is a good plan. Horse ownership is expensive. For this reason, many people look at your lease and share half horse in order to reduce costs (especially because prices gas have made almost all aspects of horse care - games, hay, grain, bedding, vet bills, transportation, etc. to increase in cost). So even if you can not afford to buy a horse of his own for a while, you may be able to find such a situation will be similar experience master of his own. Good luck! Horse ownership is expensive and time consuming, but almost all of which horses have started exactly where you are: no knowledge technical, but with a burning desire to learn.
