American Airlines Center Map Q&A

international flights from st. louis lambert?

I was wondering if anyone knew whether more international flights were coming into st. louis Lambert. I recently saw that Lufthansa has their name on a sign when you do curb-side drop off, but i know that Lufthansa has no flights at STL.

I know that American Airlines has a hub in STL, so why aren't there any British Airways planes running by? And I heard that Air China might be getting flights to Lambert in the future?

I know that STL Lambert was a huge airport for TWA, and it was an aviation center in our country's history, but it no longer is and is hardly sketched on the map. does anyone know more about new international flights to and from STL?

The Lufthansa signage you saw at Lambert, was probably due to the synergies that United Airlines holds with Lufthansa and the Star Alliance. Meaning that while Lufthansa doesn't fly there, seats are sold on United Airlines under the Lufthansa name. My guess is that this is the same scenario for Air China.
The late TWA's fortress hub in STL, was absorbed when AA bought TWA, and then sent most of the TWA employees to the unemployment line. It also said, screw you to STL, and promptly pulled a majority of their flights, and as far as I know, don't even refer to it as a hub or even as a crew base (I may be wrong there).
Also, you mentioned British Airways not flying into St. Louis. Yes it is a OneWorld partner with AA, but that is what the alliances are all about. It allows an airline to sell seats to a destination, without actually having to physically fly there themselves. It's all marketing. Obviously, British Airways doesn't see profit being made on that particular route to be flying it themselves, and I imagine that they too sell tickets under the British Airways name, but, you'd be flying American.
STL does have a long history in Aviation...given todays economy, and the already strategically established hubs that the remaining carriers have in place, it is highly unlikely that STL will ever serve as a fortress hub, or recieve long haul non-stop international flights again. Especially in the near future...the market just isn't there.
