American Airlines Mastercard Q&A

Is my question funyy? Credit card as status symbol?

Read my question and someone replied, and tell me how you feel or think.

Is it funny to have cards as status symbol?

My Question:

have several credit cards, but I don't know which one is the best.
My meanings of "the best card" is status, popularity, and world wide usage.
Select which one is the best.

1) Citi Visa Platinum Card
2) Diners Club Premium Card
3) Japan Airline Club-A Gold Card cooperated with JCB Gold Card
4) SBI Platinum MasterCard
5) American Express Platinum Card

Reply of someone:

Your question is very comedy. You are carrying credit card as a status symbol..?? THe days are gone when credit card was supposed to be a prestige symbol.

You have five credit cards. Just analyze whether you really need so many credit cards. Just for convenience, you can keep 1-2 cards and close down rest of them

Lorna,

Unfortunately the previous response is correct. Yes, it used to be that a Gold MasterCard was fairly exclusive and meant the the holder was at the top of his/her game. But over the last 10 to 15 years the credit card companies started handing out plastic to just about anybody with a pulse (and from what I've heard, even some without) and there really is no such thing as a prestigious credit card any more. There are some "exclusive" cards still nowadays, but the more exclusive you get, the less likely you'll be able to use it. With regards to credit cards, exclusive does not mean prestigious.

What's prestigious then? Cash. Hundred dollar bills. In rolls. :-)

Good Luck!

American Airlines Mastercard Q&A

Canceling credit card?

I recently paid two of my credit cards and I'm thinking about closing them. I have a Master of Citi since November 2007 and a Chase Visa since May 2006. Citi card is 29.99% APR and Chase is 27.99% APR. Citi has a limit of $ 2,000 American Airlines miles and benefits, Chase has a limit point and benefits reduced recently $ 3500 to $ 1100 to get it. I finally get rid of these cards, if not useless and I have to pay the annual fee for both. Should I close both to or do both at 6 months or a period of time between the two? Or any suggestions? I really appreciate it. Thanks!

Stop - do not close card. He hurt their classification into two - ways. You can close the extra length of credit history is 15% of the FICO -. You will reduce the total available is not used in all the limits of their cards in the eyes of creditors. Leave open accounts. Number 800 came up results by using two cards. One for food and a for gas. I paid in full each month, do not pay interest. Call and ask to remove that nasty annual fee, I bet it is. If not, close them, a score never worthy of a fee. Never. Promise never to carry balances again. Over 50% of the cardholders to pay in full each month. /
