The Seven Years War (otherwise known as the French & Indian War) was fought over a French and British colonial conflict over the Ohio River Valley. Long story short, the British won. However, soldiers and high ranking British officials noticed an independent air among the Colonists. To remind the Colonists who was in control, King George III issued the Proclamation of 1763. This prohibited the Colonists from settling West of the Allegheny Mountain Range. The Settlers were distraught and altogether upset by this. The Seven Years War and the British enactments thereafter sparked a powder-keg that would set off the American Revolution.
