Area Map Of Northern California Q&A
WHAT ARE GOOD OUTDOOR PLACES OUT WEST TO EXPLORE?
I am really into the outdoors(camping, hiking, canoe/kayaking, etc) and i am heading out west for my first time. I am planning on being mainly in washington, oregon, montana, colorado, utah, and maybe northern california. Things I am really trying to do-
spend a week+ paddling down a river, hiking mountain trails, camp on clear bodies of water, see beautiful nature and wildlife constantly.
i am really trying to just get lost and be off the map for a while. i dont where to begin. does anyone know good places to see or start this trip out at? good companies that rent canoes out? haha i dont know this area. help!!
I live in Montana, and while places like Yellowstone are amazing and beautiful, they aren't as "hidden" & "off the map" as other lesser-known places.
I encourage you to camp in Big Timber Canyon in the Crazy Mountains of Montana. To get there from I-90, turn off the interstate in Big Timber, Mt & get onto US Hwy #191 going north there should be a US forest service sign along the highway telling you where to turn.
Quake Lake, in the Madison Canyon west of Yellowstone NP, was formed by a massive landslide during the 1959 7.5 magnitude Hebgen Lake quake. It is also a very nice place to go.
Crystal Lake, located in the Big Snowy range southwest of Lewistown, Mt is another grat place to go.
Glacier National Park isn't really unknown, but is still a very beautiful place to visit. Several companies offer white water rafting along the middle fork of the Flathead River along the southern end of the park.
I know tons of great hiking trails & camping spots in Montana, so feel free to contact me for more information. I have tons of suggestions that I could give you.

Area Map Of Northern California Q&A
Oceanography Lab Help?
1. The Hawaiian Islands and Emperor Seamount are believed to have been formed by a hot spot burn through the Pacific plate, as has moved on the mantle. Looking at a map of the Pacific, in what direction I would say the Pacific plate is moving over the hot spot? "The board never change direction? If so, can you tell what direction the movement was original? 2. The Pacific Ocean is bordered by areas of high seismic and volcanic activity often called "Ring of Fire." This ring includes the volcanic chain of the South American Andes, the volcanoes of Central America, Mexico, volcanos Waterfalls in northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Aleutian Islands, the volcanoes of Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia and New Zealand. (A) Why no volcanoes in the southern and central California? (B) What type of plate boundary is at? (Santa Barbara, CA) (c) What type (s) limits plates usually causes volcanoes?
1) The Pacific plate moving north, is moving toward the northwest. You can tell this by examining the age of the volcanoes created by the hotspot. Including increased age, and ranging from currently active in the northwest and then north, where the older they are. 2a) Because there is no tectonic plate subduction in these areas to melt and rise as volcanoes. 2b) You are at a transform boundary, where plates (Pacific and North America) move laterally to each other, compared with a boundary separating divergent or join in a subduction zone. 2c) convergent boundaries. See 2a.
