Pittbull or Australian Cattle Dog?
i would like to either get a Australian Cattle Dog or american pittbull terrier. The dog would mainly be inside with a medium sized fenced yard out back. Im a junior in college soo i share the house with 3 other people. and 2 husky mixes and a rednose pitt. But sadly none of these dogs are mine so i cant take them with me alot. I would like to either get 1 from a breeder or a rescue if the dog is under a year. The dog would be thoroughly socialized and trained.It would also 1-2 hours are hard exercises a day. Ive also grown up with akitas and bull mastiff soo i know how to handle big strong willed breeds.
And i have nothing against labs and goldens i just like these breeds better. I would also not be getting the dog as a guard dog, he would just be my friend and hiking buddy. So with that being said i would like to get yours opinions about which breed is best. And real reasons would be more appreciated the just 1 word answers.

In my honest opinion, I would choose the Australian Cattle Dog. Not because I think they are necessarily any better than a Pitt, but, in many cities there are very strict regulations about what dog breeds are allowed, and most animal shelters (at least in my area) won't even adopt out Pitt Bull Terriers, and those that are captured by animal control must be ID'ed by pictures or other 100%-provable forms of ownership before they will be given back to their owners (the idea behind this is that any Joe Blow off the street can walk in, say they lost a Pitt Bull, and pick one out and use it for fighting). From what I understand Pitt Bulls are wonderful dogs, but given the difficulties that can be encountered owning them (and you may not know right now every place you will live for the next 12-15 years of the dog's life), I personally would not have one.
I must say I agree with you that Labradors and Goldens are great dogs but that they're not for everyone. I have a Brittany that I just love, and wouldn't trade him for any other breed. So long as you love the breed you choose, you can provide it the time, training, mental stimulation, and exercise it needs, and you are going to be a responsible pet owner (vaccinations, spaying/neutering of pet-quality dogs, high quality food, etc.) then the breed you choose is entirely acceptable. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy it!
