Queensland Heeler, Australian Cattle dog...?
Im looking for a male red queensland heeler puppy (red in color) with docked tails. I live in cental CA. Any one know of puppies for sale?
I know buying dogs is not as great as rescuing one...i only rescue dogs. This dog is for someone else who is insisting on a full queensland...no convincing them to adopt, i already tried. Also, ive looked in the shelters, nothing close to a queensland heeler.

Anne B...ive looked at these sites, too far away. Ive owned these dogs throughout my life===all with docked tails. They are ranch dogs...and we prefer them with docked tails. Nevermind....ill go out and find a cattle rancher that's raising them

ACDs are very popular in California.
Your friend, however, will NOT find a good ACD breeder who is willing to dock tails. That is NOT part of the breed standard and a good ACD needs its tail to work.
Maybe your friend is referring to the Stumpy Tailed Cattle Dog?
Edit: Sorry, but once again I state that the ACD should NOT have its tail docked. This was just a subject of debate on my Cattle Dog chat group and most of the people who own working ACDs agreed that is was a bad idea and hindered the dog's ability to do the job needed. ACDs use their tails for balance, and they tend to be clumsy and inept without one. Most breeders who dock this breed do it out of ignorance, so shame on them.

While I am not against cropping and docking a working breed because the breed standard dictates this, I am vehemently against mutilating a dog out of ignorance of the reason for the physical attributes of the established breed.
If your friend wants a well bred dog, it is not too far to drive. If not, oh well, there are plenty of badly bred ACDs with bad temperaments and docked tails to choose from. If your friend is determined to go down this path, tell him/her to ask about PRA, hip dysplasia and deafness.
