We recently bought an Australian Shepherd from a well known professional breeder. ?
I've had Aussie's several times in my life. He is a male, black tri, and 14 months old. However, our next door neighbors, have two year and a half pit-bulls. He totally ignores them when he does his business, and will stare them back down. The first week, and we have only had him 3, the female came under the fence, but stopped cold, when he when into attack stance. She ran back under the fence VERY fast. They are wonderful guard and watch dogs. They are bred to herd and guard sheep from coyotes. If the pit-bulls get over the fence and come after him again, or me, will Ranger fight back or will he cower? I am just concerned, and wanted some feedback.

I just wanted to add, the fence is the neighbors, not ours. Our dog is as old as the pits. I know I can call animal control if they come in our yard. But they will take the dog and put it down. Should I care? My gut says no.
The first thing I would do is go talk to your neighbor. Do they know there is a problem w/their dogs escaping and/or do they care? Depending on how well that goes, than consider the next step.
