Can an Australian Shepherd Black lab Cross be trained for hunting?
I have a 7 week old pup just wondering if anyone has ever trained one for bird hunting
I think any dog can be trained for hunting. Some breeds have it a little easier because they have been bred to have certain characteristics.
That being said, most labs would be used for retrieving, so your dog might have that instinct already.
Since the dog is very young you might want to start with bumper training to teach the dog to retrieve properly.
P.S. Don't play tug of war with a dog that is going to be used for retrieving. this will only lead to chewed birds.
