Beagle Dog Breeders Q&A
New Beagle Puppy WILL NOT Eat Any Dog Food?
We just bought a small Beagle puppy yesterday (2/08/07) and the little thing will not eat anything! She is eight weeks old and she is very lively and full of energy, but she hasen't even more than two bites of her puppy chow, she won't even eat any puppy biscuits, she just kicks them around like toys. We have tried dry chow, dry with wet food, something called Mother's Milk (its a weening formula that she was eating a little of at the breeders we bought her from). She isn't a rescue dog, a pound dog, or a stray, and I am getting VERY nervous as to why she won't eat. Please please I need some advice!!!!
(also if anyone has some really good tricks to house train a dog to go to the bathroom outside, that would be helpful to)
Thanks to Everyone who would post an answer!
I can understand why you're worried, but give it a little more time. She's probably still trying to feel comfortable in her new home. We brought our puppy home at 7 weeks old, and she also didn't seem to eat much the first few days. It really helped for us to put the food in our hands and let her eat out of that. She seemed more comfortable when we hand fed her the first few times. But don't worry, when your puppy works up more of an appetite, she'll eat!
And make sure that you put the food out for about 20 minutes or so, and then take it away, even if she hasn't eaten anything. The puppy will quickly learn that when food is put out, she needs to eat right away. So at eight weeks old, you should put food out 3 times a day, and take away anything she hasn't eaten after 20 minutes.
If it really doesn't get better in the next day or so, try calling a vet or bringing her to the vet. They might check her out to see if anything's wrong, but most likely it's that your puppy is just trying to get a grip on all these new changes.
And here are some websites I found helpful when we brought our new puppy home:

Beagle Dog Breeders Q&A
Dog breeders! Help with prices for puppies?
Heres the deal, my mom has a special kind of dogs wants.Im trying to get an idea pricewise. She is an experienced owner, shes had several Beagles, a couple of labs and a German shepherd. Her husband also has three Akitas bred and trained hunting dogs as a clock /. She is interested in, wofldogs Tamaskan, Rhodisian Ridgebacks, Akita, and Broholmers (mastiff Denmark). I understand that all these races are expensive and require special attention and skill in its own way, I'm just looking for a stadium quotes prices. If you can offer two or three prices of the puppies are your points. Thanks!
I know Mastiff require cesarean sections so there are some $ 2k there if you go through a breeder. I would not assume that any of the races from a reputable breeder would cost less than $ 800.
