Bichon Dog Breeders Q&A

Anyone have a NON-SHEDDING DOG that they want to give to a good home?

Does anyone have a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Poodle, Miniature Schnauzer, Bichon Frise, Or any other dog that is good for people who have allergies and want to find that dog a good loving home?

I have a 5 yr old boy who would LOVE a puppy, but it must be a dog that is good with people who have bad allergies - As in Non shedding.

I was going to buy one from a Pet Store/Breeder, but they all seem to want SEVERAL HUNDRED TO ONE THOUSANDS DOLLARS for a dog like this and honestly I was thinking if I could get one for FREE or as little of money as possible that would be better for me because due to the fact that I for one do not know if this child can actually have a dog due to his allergies.

So if you have a dog like this that you are looking to give to a good home I would like to have that dog to give to him. He just loves dogs and it would be a great thing for him. I promise it goes to a very good home if for any reason that the child has a bad allergic reaction to the pet.

first of all there is no such thing as a NON shedding dog. all dogs shed, some more than others. even humans shed hair, and have dander!

there are LOW-sheding dogs. like the poodle or Bichon.

i would recomend you go through a rescue group. they have WONDERFUL dogs..that have been temperment tested and fixed, and all the shots are done.

here are some links to help you find a dog in YOUR area that is not so expensive to adopt!

http://adopt-a-dog.1-800-save-a-pet.com/

ALSO! NEVER EVER EVER EVER BUY A PUPPY FROM A PET STORE!
those dogs come from puppy mills...they are horrible places that breed dogs 24/7 all year round! the do NOT health check their dogs..they are in it for PROFIT only. and you will end up with a VERY sick pup! or one that has been inbreed, or born with birth defects or serious medical conditions.

think of an adult dog to adopt! most of them are already done with the puppy stages (which can be difficult with small children), puppies bite, chew, pee everywhere, need shots every few months, need to be fixed, have to go through purberty and house training, obedience training...etc etc. ITS LIKE HAVING A TODDLER! and adult dog is has already gone through that...AND YOU WILL KNOW THE TEMPERMENT OF AN ADULT DOG!!! were with a puppy...you never know till they have matured.
and what if that cute little pup doesn't like the rough handling of a 5 yr old. I KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT i have 2 boys, ages 10 and 8.
you MUST teach your child to respect a dogs space. this is the CAUSE of dog bites towards children. adults don't teach their children how to respect a dogs space and then don't supervise them together.
i have 7 adult dogs at my house *3 are SPCA foster dogs, one had 8 pups*, my children are NEVER alone with the dogs. if they go outside...I GO OUTSIDE!
do i trust my dogs? YES! do i trust that my kids will respect their space and make a good judgement about playing with them? ehhhh kinda! i know that they are still just kids, and they will test the bounderies.

puppies aren't just fun little fluffy toys. they grow up to be dogs...with sharp teeth and they WILL use them if they feel threatened or frightened.

is right! 25% of shelter dogs ARE PUREBREDS!!

Bichon Dog Breeders Q&A

By changing my bichon to adult food?

My Bichon Frise a few days ago just turned 1. I've been doing a lot of research and innovation I want to change, since the food you have taken is a horrible brand. I am a first time dog owner and breeder heard that I feed him Iams said. Well, he is still in Iams, but now I want make the change. It is a year old the right age? Has anyone heard that innovation is too much for small breeds? any answers would be great =)

Good questions and it seems you have done some research. 1 year old is a good time to change your dog food adult food for puppies. Because your dog has been doing well on Iams, not bad to keep Iams. Iams is not a bad food, no matter what the pet food retailers say store -. However, if you would like to try Innova I will gradually transition to the new food more than 10-14 days. Definition - add a few nuggets of new foods in their old food on day 1. Day 2 - add a couple more. Day 7 - which should be in 50 to 50 of age to new foods. I use the same transition, while continuing the Iams. This will allow the stomach and intestines get used to the food without a sudden change. My only comment and concern is that you own a Bichon. Bichons are prone to bladder stones and urinary problems. If you do not know please talk to your vet about this. In general, I recommend a urine sample for analysis each year to seek evidence of bladder problems. Bichons that have crystals in the urine are placed in veterinary diets to reduce the likelihood that calculations here. It's not bad to have your Bichon of prevention: diet.
