Boxer Dogs Health Problems Q&A
How does chemotherapy affects dogs?
My 4 year old boxer just got diagnosed with multiple carcinoma. I always knew this breed has this type of health problems, but I didn't expect it to be so soon, and out of nowhere, he's always been a really healthy and active dog. He's my baby and I love him so much, can't even think of everything he is goona go through.
The prognosis is good, 'cause we caught it early. He's starting chemo next week, and don't know what to expect... besides what the vet has told me.
But i would like to know if anyone has actually gone throught it and any words of advice are more than welcome, and extremely appreciated. But above all I need success stories, to keep my hopes up.
I have faith everything is going to be allright, but at the same time can't stop worrying for secondary effects.
My parents' dog went thru chemo and they were told he might have vomiting, diarreha and hair loss. He only had his topknot thin out, he was a Poodle mix. My Rott was older, 11, when he went thru chemo for lymphosarcoma and he had to take about 6 Kaopectate pills a day for upset tummy but he did well the first few times then quit eating. I tried people food, raw meat, anything we could come up with and he wouldn't eat much so after about 10 days of that I had my vet send him to the bridge. My next dog that developed lymphosarcoma didn't get any treatment and lived 2 mos after diagnosis. My rott lived about 3 mos after diagnosis.
