I have an 8 week old boxer puppy that hasn't been eating all that much?
He has been given only dry kibble because that's what he was recieving at his breeders and I know changing food around to hastily for a puppy can give them an upset stomach. I have taken him to the vet and he says he checked out ok, but I would really feel more comfortable if he ate a little more.
I was going to try and give him a very small amount of tuna today in his food just to perk his interest in it a bit more...do you think this is an ok idea?
I also heard giving puppies pumpkin mash is a good way to get them to pu ton some weight.
You dont want your puppy to gain too much weight too fast. And remember puppies have tiny tummies they eat less than adult dogs but eat more often. There is a dog food that is high in protein and helps them gain muscle mass, its called Purina Hi-Pro and has Poultry as its main ingredient. Gradually change his food. from 75% old food-25% new food the first couple days, then 50% old food- 50% new food the next couple days after that and so on and so on.... I would try feeding him 3 times a day since hes a tiny puppy... but if you are to mix anything in his food then get a can of wet dog food or soften his food with water 10 minutes before giving it to him... Just dont mix it with people food that will definitely give him an upset tummy along with diarhea. I hope this was helpful!!
