Boxer Puppy Crate Training Q&A

trying to crate train boxer/lab mix 10 week old puppy?

i have tried throwing treats in his crate and having him wander around inside with the door open to get used to it.. i have tried putting him in there only after he's fallen asleep and opening the door immediately after he wakes up. he cries every time i close the crate door. i put him in there today while having a shower and it sounded like he was going to hyperventilate. What am I doing wrong?

Be patient, keep doing what you're doing. Keep using the treats and inviting him in for short periods of time... initially just a few minutes at a time. Crate training is a slow process. After you've shut the door and he's quiet even a few seconds, open it up and give him LOTS of praise. Later in the day do it again... asking him to be quiet a few more seconds or a few more minutes... each time you'll expect him to be quiet longer. Then you can build up to while in the shower, or while leaving the home. Just be diligent and patient and he'll get used to it! :) Also try using it as a sleepin space at night. He'll cry for awhile but he'll inevitably fall asleep. This will help get him used to the crate...

Boxer Puppy Crate Training Q&A

Am I right puppy crate training?

He is a boxer beagle mix and is about 7-8 months old. I am currently crate training him. Here is my sceduele -. 6:30 am let him out of his cage and took him 7:00 am - put it back in his. Cage 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. another walk - back in his cage from 2:30 pm - take him for another walk and play with him at 3:30 pm - feed and then put it back in the drawer 18:00 - They take a walk and play 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm, new in box - kept him out of his cage and give him lunch 20:30 - another walk and play 22:00 - the dream I'm doing right? Sometimes it dosent go to the bathroom, even when I take him outside. Then when I get home it goes home. What is wrong? And he complains a lot when I leave in the drawer. I guess it's to do this? Thanks. Deintiely thinking to let him run free the house when he is house trained.

You seem to be doing a good job, but I try to give lots of treats and praise when he goes out. Never hit or scold him for going inside of them do not understand this. Also, not to be hard, but the dog can not live their entire lives in a box. As they try to maintain some too much and give it the attention that is not a ride. Make sure your box is the right size too. If it is too large, then bathed in it.
