why is it that people always bash dog breeders?
i was just curious. yeah i know about all the dogs in the shelters and stuff but when a responsible pet owner asks a question about breeding everybody on here like goes bilistic. without even knowing the person. I dont breed but my moms sister did and she is a pedigree champion and has had a number of requests to breed and she asked a question about it on here and she got yelled at by several people. I mean instead of actually answering the question all the people did was rant and rave about how breeding is bad. and I was just wondering why they are so quick to throw a stone? perferably people to answer this would be the ones who rant and rave about it.
the question she was asking was i think what is a good place to have puppies. soooooo if u say this is a bad place to ask about puppies that was her question and how is that being a nonresponsible breeder??

Hi.. i hope i'm not "ranting and raving".... i don't see anything wrong with breeding a purebred champion once in a while, but there are so many irresponsible breeders out there.... as you probably heard from the other answers you got before?
Many people breed female dogs every time they are in heat, lie about their backgrounds, don't get them medical care. Unhealthy mother dogs tend to produce puppies who have health problems as they mature. These are the people who run puppy mills and who are irresponsible back yard breeders.
Another problem with these dogs is that people buy them, and then sometimes continue the breeding cycle. ONE litter of puppies can produce over 3,000 dogs in a matter of just 5 years. And as we know, there are a lot of people who don't take very good care of their dogs, and who don't care about an animal's health - all they want to do is pad their wallet. So, of these 3,000 dogs many will end up abused, homeless or in shelters waiting to be euthanized.
I'm sure your mom's sister did the right thing with her dog... and i don't see a lot wrong with that, if people want to continue a breed of dog. There are many people, like your Aunt, who are interested in the breed, in their pet's health and who would take measures to ensure getting good, responsible owners for any puppies who may result from breeding.
To me, there is a big difference between what your Aunt wanted to do, and a puppy mill or back yard breeder operation.
Still, some dogs with great pedigrees end up on the "unwanted list" too, believe it or not. We can never guarantee that people who buy pups with great pedigrees are going to take care of them, either. But personally, i think that, chances are, people who pay top dollar really do want to give a dog a good life and home.
I'm sorry people ranted and raved about your question.... there is such an overpopulation of unwanted animals (not just dogs!) on this planet, some people tend to go overboard !
I think that, if your Aunt wants advice and information about breeding dogs, she could look for an online Forum. So, for example if she has a Standard Poodle, she could do a Yahoo search for Poodle Forums or Standard Poodle Forums.... people with like interests will be posting away at these sites!

Sorry, I know this question has been asked a couple of times before, but I had not had a chance to see the thing for me yet. Now that I have, I curious what others think ... I know that the propaganda of the word has been thrown around a lot, and while that may be true the video also seems to have quiet a bit of truth to it. The extremes that some breeds of dogs have been taken to ensure that fear, but not quiet as scary as closed-minded as some of the farmers interviewed (Which remind me of religious people who when asked to defend the religion are only able to quote the Bible.) On a side note: I found it fascinating the amount of some of the races have changed by the people who work on behalf of the preservation of the same ... So anyway, what do you think not? Sorry, I did not save the link, but if you look at Pedigree dogs on youtube that probelly will find ... is a BCC documentary about the disadvantages of pedigree dogs
Have not seen it, but the tests and samples are probably right on the money. We have the same problem here in the USA and the AKC and "farmers are so willfully blind to the dangers of the Supplement.: Rayven is ignorant or a liar. I have seen numerous AKC certified with the mother-son, father-daughter and sibling matings. Allowed, they are produced, and registered.
