sorry, but as a Cavalier owner I'll tell you right now that they are NOT cheap dogs to own. Practically all Cavaliers have a heart condition called Mitral Valve disease, statistically 50% of Cavs will have it by the time they are 5 years old, and the percentage goes up from there. Any dog that is a "cheap buy" is probably at greater risk. Do you have the money to pay for treatment of said heart condition? What about neurological problems? Cavs are also at risk for a painful and costly neurological disorder. How about tooth care? My Cav came from a rescue, relatively "cheap" but I've spent a fortune on caring for her teeth, they've needed cleanings, pullings and special supplements- and I've only had her a year! How about grooming? unless you take the time to brush them several times a week they'll need to be trimmed. Paying a groomer is not cheap. Do some research into Cavs first, and rethink your decision. If you still want one after that, look for a dog from a reputable breeder who has performed all the nessecary health certifications (Cerf, OFA, Penn Hipp) and can tell you how they are battling mitral valve and other health problems in thier line specifically. Such a dog WILL NOT be cheap. Expect to pay at least $1,000, probably more. Alternately, choose to rescue, their are many Cavs out thier in rescue looking for good homes. -Neb
