Canadian Kennel Club Breed Standards Q&A

Should I question the chihuahua breeder if they have a litter of 5 puppies?

I understand that the average litter of purebred chihuahuas are usually around 3 puppies...

But the breeder that I am contacting at the moment says that she has a litter of 5 puppies. Moreover, The breeder says that the mom is 3 1/2 pounds and the dad is under 3 pounds.

Is it possible to have 5 puppies then!? if the mom and dad are so puny?!

Oh. And can you tell me if $850 is reasonable for a purebred chihuahua that doesn't have papers? The breeders said that they have been breeding for over 25+ years, but they no longer register their puppies (even when "they are bred to conform to the breed standard as is approved by the Canadian Kennel Club").

I know my chihuahua had a litter of four one time, but she was around eight - ten pounds. But that was the most she ever had and one didn't live. I would say probably not all that possible for dogs that small. No. Never pay that much if you aren't getting papers. Take your business else where. They sound really fishy.

Confused about Russell Jack Russell or Parsons?

I'm a little confused about Jack Russell registration. Are you or Jack Parsons? Or simply Parsons in the U.S.? What is the real difference? Why are AKC registered, but Canada Kennel Club member? I live in Canada and I have my terrier to a good breeder registered in Canada, recorded only his terriers with The Jack Russell Terrier Club of Canada and the United States, but ..... she did not call them "Parsons Russell Terrier. It fits the AKC / UKC standard perfectly and has an outstanding pedigree full of / hunting and conformation champions. I heard some enthusiasts do not want the ERC recognized breed because they want to retain the ability deminished work and not race through the production for demonstration purposes only. All in all I am confused.

I always thought they were the same, but I think not. "The Parson Russell Terrier was recognized by the Kennel Club of the United Kingdom in 1990, followed by Australia and the countries of the FCI, then American Kennel Club in 2001 as a Parson Jack Russell Terrier and later the United States as the Parson Russell Terrier. Because the name "Jack Russell Terrier" is marked on the U.S. by a group of people who do not wish to be part of a Kennel Club all of its class, the American Kennel Club made a commitment to the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America for races changed name to "Parson Russell" terrier. The rest of the world now recognizes the Jack Russell and Parson Russell as two separate races. "For more information only contact with the good breeder who bought it. They should be more than happy to explain the difference.
