Canadian Kennel Club Ckc Q&A

Could a CKC Registered dog apply for the AKC Good Citizen Test?

My dog's going to be in the Canadian Kennel Club and I want him to have the AKC Good Citizen Award. Do I have to pay and get him in the AKC or can I apply without changing his Registration?

The CKC has their own version - the Canine Good Neighbour program. You don't need to do this through the AKC, unless you are living in the USA. In that case, you can duel register your dog.

Add: Deedawg - a dog can be dual registered in two or more KCs from foreign countries. That's how a Canadian-bred, American-owned dog won Crufts this year. I live on the USA border, and my CKC registered dogs can be registered also with the AKC, even though I do not live in the USA, if I wanted to compete in USA events.

Canadian Kennel Club Ckc Q&A

What are some differences between the AKC and CKC?

Now, before answering, please read: First, I'm talking about the Canadian Kennel Club, Continental Kennel Club not accepted. What are some breeds that a record but not the other? Are there differences in the breed standard of certain races? How different conformation shows? Any other details I would like to add!

Loki, you have to go back! In fact, our "great" is only 2 points. There are some differences in the rules, but generally not enough to stop a dog from a country that success in the other. For example, in Basset Hounds, the U.S. standard disqualifies long coats, which is simply a failure in Canada (not that it is likely that far away showing one). CKC AKC recognized breeds, but Braque Francais Barbet long-haired German Pointer Pudelpointer Blue Picardy Spaniel French Spaniel Spanish Water Dog Wirehaired Vizsla Long Hair Weimaraners can show Norrbottenspets Drever Canadian Eskimo Dog Norwegian Lundehund Entlebucher Mountain Dog Eurasier Greenland Dog Hovawart Leonberger Karelian Bear Dog Cesky Terrier Xoloitzcuintli Australia Japanese Spitz Stumpy tail cattle dog Berger Picard (Picardy Shepherd) Dutch Icelandic Sheepdog Shepherd too, all breeds of dog to be shown as one, and we recognize four varieties: Groenendael, Malinois, Tervuren, and Laekenois.
