Any recommendations on pet insurance for my dogs? ?
Can any of you recommend a pet insurance company? Also, I would like your opinion on whether they are worth the money. I've never used one in the past because I have a special savings account that I put money into weekly that is strictly for regular vet visits as well as any health issues that may arise. This has worked well for our boxer but we recently rescued an APBT and now that we have two dogs to care for I want to make sure that I always have the funds available should anything happen.
I have heard that they aren't the best deal. If you get anything, read EVERYTHING and know what you are getting.
I think it is just as effective to take the money you would spend on insurance and start up an emergency pet care fund. That way you don't have to worry about jumping through hoops and not getting covered, you can just pay cash and know exactly where all your money is going.

Hey, I'm in the middle of reading about the Boxer dog breed. They are one of the races that I like I suggested, based on my specifications I want in a dog and what you can handle / afford to. Any boxer particular care to shed some insight on this goober of a dog?
I have an 8 year old female boxer. She is a handful, but a very good dog. She is very good with children and very tolerant with them, but she has been a little more protection which was something I really had to work, but was the result of previous owners not to socialize it. In general, I would suggest a boxer to almost anyone. They are really very sweet and soft, just make sure to socialize the dog and you really should not have any problem. Oh, and I have to add, my heart melts at any time she looks at me with that sweet face of a boxer, and Gill Boxer just killed me!
