Choosing A Dog Breed Q&A
I need help with choosing a dog for my birthday. I am looking for a specific breed. But i cannot choose which?
I am looking for a good breed. Here are my requirments
- must like to play
- must be healthy
- must be fairly small (small enough for me to carry around)
- must get along with my bro's dog (beagle)
- pretty easy to train
- Active
I have decided that it is better for me to rescue a dog then to buy one from the pet store. So i need a dog that will most likey be at a shelter. I know i am asking alot, but i know what i want and what i like.
It will also have to be able to live in a cold and warm climate. During winter i can dress it up in a sweater and stuff but it can not be prone to cold.
I also want a dog i can spoil. That i can dress up in sweaters, and cover it in bows.
Thanks yahoo answers. And all of you people that will answer. I apprecite soooo much. I am not looking for a stuffed animal either. And i can take on this responsibiltiy
I would use petfinder.com. Not only are they able to narrow your search to your location and surrounding area, they also have a link on their site, where you can put in what you want as far as your desires in a dog, and it will feed back to you what type of dog is best for those needs. I hope you find a puppy that you can love and spoil. I just had to put my puppy down today, so, with time, I will be going to petfinder.com again to rescue another one. Just not ready to do that quite yet.

Choosing A Dog Breed Q&A
Need help finding a breed of dog for our lifestyle?
We live in Florida and want a low power consumption, the dog who is happy Drooly being mostly indoors. Must be able to get along with people, infants, children and cats but if someone breaks into the house or assault is going to attack or defend. My husband is deployed freq. and I will feel safer at home with a dog. Also spend much time in North Carolina so I would have to be a breed that can tolerate weather up there. We want to be very careful choosing a dog, as this will be part of our family for life.
Honestly, the dog you want (as described) does not exist. There is no such thing as a cover dog dog power on who gets along with everyone suddenly come alive and attack and defend against an intruder. With children, you do not want an inexperienced "attack dog." This dog is very dangerous because the dog can not distinguish between friends and enemies and can bite a friend of the child, the UPS man, or some other innocent person. Protection of dogs their very nature are extremely high energy breeds like Dobermans and German Shepherds who have had extensive training shutzhund including extensive obedience training, plus protection training to follow their own commands without fail. Any other type of protection dog is not a strong animal. You must comply with a relaxed and calm adult dog who likes children and barks when you hear an intruder. You can find a dog at your local shelter. Or get an alarm system.
