Is It Normal To Have Blood Come Out When I Blow My Nose?
I am 14 years old. I live in the city of Calgary, AB, Canada. It is a very dry climate. I normally have the problem of being able to breathe in one nostril one day. But the next day I will only be able to breathe out of the opposite nostril. Is this normal?
And also, I was in Costa Rica a few days ago. The problem described above cleared up while there (I'm guessing it is because of the extremely humid climate down there) But when I got back to Calgary, a couple days later, I could only breathe through one nostril again. And when I blew my nose to try to clear it up, some blood came out along with a bunch of mucus. Is this normal??

Hi it does sound like you are dealing with dry sinuses. What you can try doing is to use saline spray like Ocean Spray it is a nasal spray you can use frequently. You could also use a vaporizer by your bedside at night. Another thing you could try is Mucinex over the counter. Placing Vicks Vapor Rub on your nose at night will also help too. Blood coming out of your nose is normally a dry nose the capillaries in your nose are irritated, Hope this helps. Good Luck.
