a friend of mine bought a mini dachshund that has a problem. Can someone help?
A friend bought a mini dachshund from a breeder and it had kennel cough. He brought it to the vet and had that taken care of. Next, the dogs hair fell out and it 's skin is turning blackish. Does anyone have any ideas what to do for it. The vet says it doesn't have the black skin disorder they can get. Allergy to shots maybe??????
Yes, it's an allopeica. I don't know the proper name. A vet Dermatologist could tell them.
Edit: this has several possiblilities (Alopecia X and Follicular Displasia) No vet can know everything, especially when it comes to strange skin disorders. Be sure to check thyroid and do a blood panel. Find another vet if this one isn't willing to do a little checking.
