Google and 192 map satellite map coverage?
I live in Scotland and while searching on the Google maps and 192.com website I find that they do not have detailed satellite maps for my area of the country.It just says 'image not available'.I find it strange that I can zoom into areas of mountains or deserts in the world but they do not have this capability for many populated areas of the UK.Do you have the same problem in your area?Is there anywhere you can complain to or ask for more coverage in your area?
Google buys map data from various companies that provide satellite coverage. Like everything else, it is a game of supply and demand. If there is a high demand for those photos, then the supply will become available.
Unfortunately for you, satellite photography is very expensive, and the demand for coverage in other regions of the world is higher than it is in your region. And with the cost of the coverage, the customers that the providers are interested in are not the average citizen, but the companies that rely on satellite coverage for exploration or as a basis for making business decisions. For instance, petroleum companies pay huge premiums to get interesting areas of the world covered in high detail, so that they can decide whether or not it is worth their while to invest a couple of hundred million dollars into sinking exploration wells.
Be patient, it will get there. But probably not tomorrow.

London to New York - the head why Scotland?
I think the answer is the curvature of the earth, but I want more detail (especially the drivers, etc) crashed over Lockerbie, Scotland, where was heading to New York. And when I flew to New York that came in over the coast of Labrador, etc. Am I confused looking at the Mercator (flat) map of the world? - I think Dame science itself!
Get a balloon and get a piece of rope. Place one end of the chain in New York and then find the path that will take the shortest length chain in London. This is the path of the aircraft to try to fly, but there are other considerations as well as weather, jet stream and the location of the airways in general, aids to navigation, airports, even the deviations from the type of aircraft, etc. You will find that the route will look very different from what one would expect if only looking at a Mercator map, which distorts everything.
