Whats the difference between AKC and CKC?
Everyone says CKC Is kinda bad but I dont understand?
AKC traces bloodlines through extensive pedigrees, registration numbers, microchip tracking, DNA tests, etc. They strive to make sure their are no errors in tracing bloodlines and giving detailed pedigrees to dog owners. This ensures that purebred dogs are in fact purebred. They also hold conformation shows to evaluate breeding stock, field and working trials to prove that dogs can still perform their functions, and have all sorts of educational material available for pet owners and breeders. Their goal is to preserve purebred dogs.
Continental Kennel Club, American Pet Registry, United All Breed Registry, and other "pet" registries do none of this. They give you a piece of paper, you write down a name and a breed, and they send you a "pedigree" of whatever dogs are listed under the name of the two parents you gave them. They don't care if the dog you have really came from those parents or not. They don't evaulate dogs or breeders. It's purely a pedigree service, just so that pet owners can feel all warm and fuzzy that they have a worthless piece of paper with names on it. Mostly backyard breeders and puppy mills use these services because they are cheap and don't ask questions. A dog registered with CKC or any of the others is basically worth no more than an unregistered mutt.

i do not know what it is. I just found out that AKC means your race, but what CKC and what is the difference between the two?
AKC: a dog is registered the American Kennel Club. Not mean that it is purebred, it means that is represented as a pure breed in the registry. CKC can stand for Canadian Kennel Club, which is for all Canada breeds AKC registration. The Canadian Kennel Club is a record of good reputation. Can also mean the CKC or Continental Kennel Club Canine, both frequently used by disreputable breeders, backyard breeders and others who do not want any oversight or DNA testing requirements.
