Are doberman pinchers a good dog for a family?
My husband brought me home a new puppy and i am very scared because its a doberman pincher i dont know how they act around children... its a puppy right now but when it get older will it be a good breed to have....
Make sure you train the puppy starting now, and the kids as well! Any dog, regardless of breed, can be a biter, so do not worry about this dog just because it is a doberman pinscher.
I suggest crate training the puppy, starting basic commands like "sit" and "down" and working with the puppy NOW.
Do not allow the puppy to chase the kids, or the kids to chase the puppy, as this will excite the puppy and when he gets bigger the prey drive will kick in and it could be a dangerous game of chase, even if the kids only "accidently" get hurt.
I have some advice for you about having kids/puppies/dogs together and how to avoid any potential problems, as well as how to work now to have a harmonious household later.

Doberman good names for me?
We finally agreed that we would have a second dog. We already have a male German shepherd / golden retriver mix named Scooby. (We are Scooby neutuered and sterilized the bitch future) Scooby gets along with females very well (which has been around them before) and the dog has to be a doberman because my dad loves that breed. I wanted a female and a black, but my dad wanted a boy bornw a way that said "If a woman can be brown," and after a hours, I said yes. So now we have a good name. I liked the name Cass, Moxie, Lola and love, but my mom and dad, as yet we have had them to keep thinking. Do you have any idea of names for a brown / red female Doberman Pincher?
