Dog Breeders Alaska Q&A

WTF? I thought "Olde English Bulldogges" were extinct?

So I thought that I had read that the Olde English Bulldogge is extinct, Yet I found this:

http://www.lastfrontierkennels.com/

That is a breeder in Alaska... I found their website on a State-wide Classifieds website (Which is popular in the dog section. I paid to feature my litter on the dogs page, plenty of good litters come through the site)... but isnt the OEB extinct? They are just English Bulldogs, right?

It just seems like bulls*** to me. ALSO, look in their puppy contract. It says that in the guarentee, "Giardia" can be "brought on by the stress of shipping". I thought Giardia was only contracted through stagnant water?

I won't be buying from these people, because a) I don't see anything about their dogs being shown or health tested (They aren't even AKC registered... o.O)

Am I spot on, or am I missing something?
LOL

Ug, Britni, Kijiji is the worst place I can even think of to buy a dog.

The "breed" is a re-creation.

Dogs who maintain a low level of giardia in their system (and many dogs do after having contracted it) can have it re-occur when stressed.

Not my idea of a great breeder - but far from the worst.

Dog Breeders Alaska Q&A

Newfoundland dog ... it's hot ...?

Hi, I live in Fort Mohave AZ temps. in the summer gets up to 125, my next door neighbor has relatives in Soldotna Alaska to Newfoundland breeds, she said yesterday that will send your a 6 months old ... Im just curious how a big dog so much hair and use of Alaska weather will be fine with climate change ... she says she will take the dog to laugh a lot in the summer .. . I think it's crazy that a dog breeder would give the dog as an unwanted time shift ... believe that the dog will be fine? Thanks for the replies, I just think the dog would be so uncomfortable.

PLEASE Do not shave the Newfoundland! As a previous writer said, the layer of Newfoundland isolated from the cold and heat. If you shave a Newfoundland, which has no protection against heat. I understand that cutting the hair of the abdomen allows the dog to stay cooler when down on the grass, the cold floor, etc, but they really do shave more prone to heat injury. I have a Newfoundland and in the summers of its becomes nearly 100 degrees. My Newfoundland has been fine. His energy level (almost in a coma, but then, so does mine), the water we drink more and I walk at night ... So is the air conditioning the house? We only have one room with air conditioning and I will admit that he spends much of his time there, but he never showed any sign of distress. If the dog spends most of life in AZ, it will adapt to the climates AZ.
