Is it true that it is a good idea to buy a great dane at the age of 8-9 months?
They've told me that it's better to buy a great dane 8 months old than a younger puppy because you get more guaranteed health certifications from the breeder, as well as better knowledge of it's character.Also because you get a more ''mature'' and ''whole'' dog , meaning that it is better for the dog to stay that long with the breeder because that way you get a very taken care dog which is provided in advance with the proper ''foundations'' concerning it's breeding.Are all these true or they want to sell me a great dane that just couldn't be sold or given until now? P.S. the breeder is a very respectfull breeder in France with much knowledge and experience.The proposed price comes up to 2000euros. Should I buy the puppy or not?
I sell many of my pups at that age. I have never had a dissatisfied buyer. All my dogs are well trained before they leave me. Dogs still bond well at that age, and you are correct in saying that you can tell more of the dog's qualities.
When I began breeding, I always showed my pups at 6-8 months, just to learn what the judges thought if them, and how they compared to the breed standard. Then, I would sell them.
Unless you just really want a puppy, that has to be house trained, and leash trained and socialized, the older pup is a better bargain.

I'm looking for a rare breed dog?
My neighbor had a Brittany Fawn Griffon long time, but past away and now I'm looking for a dog the same breed identification. I have a lot of land in the country and have had previous dogs before I know what to expect. http://www.puppyfinder.com/rarebreeds.php?startby=f http://pethealth.petwellbeing.com/wiki/Fawn_Brittany_Griffon This is truly a breed originating in France, but are difficult to find in Canada if anyone knows of a breeder or website link would be greatly appreciated. Griffon Griffon Brittany just means Griffon Fauve de Bretagne in English. This is the same race, but thanks.
If you can not find one in your country think about importing one in France. I seriously considered getting a German Spitz. There are not many breeders in the States. I would most likely an import from Europe where there are many breeders.
