Are Schipperke's good for small children? About how much would one cost (pure breed)? Breeders in Texas?
I have been looking through small breads of dogs to get a family dog for myself, my husband and my 21 month old daughter. I looked through all the breeds and the one I like most is the Schipperke, I know my husband like's wolfs, and they look very wolfish, and they seem to be just a pretty bread of dog (not whimpy like a weener dog or something). Anyway, I wondered if it would be a good breed of dog to have around a young child (keep in mind we would be getting a small puppy, so nothing that is already accustomed to other people) about how much a pure breed would cost (we aren't rich, but I know they won't be free) and where I can find a breeder in central Texas.

I have 2 schipperkes. One of them is the sweetest dog i have ever had. She has never bitten or growled and hardly barks. On the other hand.. we just got a puppy and she is the meanest little thing. She bites anything and anybody. I think we may have gotten her too early from her mother though and that could be why. Both of ours cost $200 and are pure bred.. We live in arkansas so i wouldn't see much difference in price. But they are very very smart. Both of ours have learned very quickly as puppies. I would also think that a female would be better with a little kid. Both of ours are. Hope i helped!
