Dog Breeders In North Alabama Q&A

AKC and CKC registered dogs... is there a difference?

I want to make sure the dog I want to purchasee is a pure breed, and everyone has CKC now, and I am not familiar wth it at all. I am looking for a YORKIE breeder in North Alabama.

AKC is American.
CKC is Canadian.
CKC as in Continental is a fake, crappy registry for back yard breeders.

Dog Breeders In North Alabama Q&A

Have you heard of the kennel Marta in northern Alabama?

They bred Boston terriers, westies, pugs, and some other dogs. Does anyone have any experience with them? Is it good to buy puppies from a breeder who have multiple races? Thanks for your help!

It is difficult to know and want to know what you can about the breeder. I admit I am skeptical. Most quality breeders specialize in one or two races, rarely three or more. When you see multiple races, especially with toys, I think about puppy mill. Ask if you can see the puppy's parents and whether parents have all health checks that are appropriate for their race. Ask if you can view these records. Check site Website of the national breed club and read about common health conditions in the race. Ask the breeder about the prevalence of these conditions on the lines that your dog has been generated from. Although there is no guarantee, puppies should be from a litter that is AKC registered, not another record. The breeder should also offer a health guarantee to their puppy. You should be welcome to visit the farm, meet the parents and see the trash. If not, that's a huge red flag. If there is something that seems not to rise, I would look elsewhere.
