puppy? HELP!?
I have 2 dogs all of which I have rescued and now am looking for a chihuahua. I've searched countless rescue websites and researched the breed, but have been unable to find a rescue chihuahua that fills my needs. I read somewhere and was advised by a neighbor that you should not get chihuahuas from rescue because of their risky temperaments. I feel I do my part in helping rescue animals because I also give a generous donation to the shelters in my area and the petfinder charity, not to mention also volunteer whenever I can, although I feel a little bad because I'm not saving one's life 
, but still no comments about that. I was wondering if anyone knew a good chihuahua breeder in the Northeast excluding Pennsylvania, Maine, Virginia, West Virginia, and Ohio. i don't care about the price I just want a happy healthy dog. Thanks!
I have to say your neighbour is wrong that all rescue chihuahuas can have risky temperaments.
I volunteer for a rescue group that gets lots of chihuahuas through their doors and some of them are the nicest dogs you'll meet.
There's no guarantee that going through a breeder will get you a nice dog either. It's more about how you raise the dog than where you get it.
Chihuahua as a breed can be a bit temperamental sometimes. That's just the dog they are.
If you are after a puppy there are chihuahua puppies in rescue groups. You could look at finding one of these then you could raise it be nice and trained the way you want and still be saving a life.
I myself would still think rescue and not give up so easily. Every breeder dog you get kills a shelter dog basically. Yes you may have to search a little for one and it may take a little time to find the right one but I wouldn't trade any of my rescue dogs for a breeder one.
There are currently 5444 chihuahuas listed on Petfinder right now. I would think there should be a suitable one for you in there!!!
