Dog Breeders Software Q&A

Should I get a lawyer? Product fails to do what it promises.?

I bought software for managing pedigrees for a dog breeder. The manual claims that you can easily back the data up to a CD and transfer the data to another computer as long as the same program was on both computers. This turned out to be untrue. I entered information for over 700 dogs and then could not back it up or transfer. I contacted the creator of the software and they assured me that it would be fixed. Months later, they sent me a "patch" to fix the software. I installed it, it corrupted my computer and I had to do a system restore. After over a year of emails, complaints and false promises, I have had it! It's been so long that I am almost ready to get a new computer and give the one with the database on it to the dog breeder. This does not solve my problem though, as she would then have to deal with an older computer with a small harddrive.. Should I get a lawyer? Do I have grounds to take these people to court for false advertising?

Well, you probaly do, but is sueing them from the cost of the program worth the effort?

Only you can decide that question.

And then, you might want to read all the fine print you agreed to when you installed the program.

You may well have given up any right to sue them.

It's really hard to sue software makers for thier software failing to do what you thought it would do.
