Dog Breeders Washington State Q&A
Service dog quality german shepherds in washington? Thanks
Hello,
Today my mother was placed in a nursing home that allows animals. I would take care of her, but I unfortunately live in another state...and she insists that she is fine. Long story short, she loves animals and I am determined to find her a german shepherd. Here is what Im looking for if you can help...
Must be a german Shepherd breed.
Must be located in [or around] Washington State.
Must be gentle.
Or if you know of any breeders that would be great too.
I am not looking for a dog that has been trained [like for people that are blind]
I am hoping to find a service QUALITY dog...meaning they will be able to learn sometime in the
future and will understand my mother's needs.
One more thing...I don't want to sound....cheap? Don't get me wrong, but I probably wont be able to afford a $5,000 dog at the moment. Maybe a less expensive dog would be great. Thanks for your help.
Honestly a German Shepherd is not a good choice for living in a nursing home. They are very active and require a lot of exercise or they get destructive and nuts. Ideally they have a very active owner, but at least a large fenced yard where they can play ball.
It's also a bad idea to procure a pet with a hope that it will some day be able to become a service dog. The training is very time intensive and expensive and even then promising candidates don't always complete the training. What would your mother do then with a pet she loves and it not able to be a service dog so she has to choose between giving him up to get a service dog or doing without.
It typically takes 18-24 months to fully train a service dog. That's if you have the training expertise to pull it off.
If she needs a service dog she'd be far better off applying through a program that does the training. It costs less and has a much higher probability of success than trying to pick the dog first and then hope it can be trained.

Dog Breeders Washington State Q&A
Young puppies?
I want a dog for me for christmas lol, but I would love to have a small one or a Poodle chiuahaha minutes, just a dog but does anyone Lil know farmers here in the state of Washington? close to the Seattle Tacoma area? Please help me out! Thanks!
Please take a look at some sources to help you identify a reputable breeder. I will link to the poodle and the American chi club. Be sure to read your code of ethics and requirements breeder before buying one. And remember, a pet store, a random internet ad, newspaper ad and a backyard breeder are some of the worst places for a pet. They are one of the main reasons so many dogs are euthanized in shelters and why DOSGEN allowed to go to the abusive or unfit homes. Furthermore, no forget to consider rescue. Seattle has a group of purebred rescue and there are many independent rescue groups in your area. This is, of course, apart from the groups listed on Petfinder. And make sure you have the right intentions. A small dog is a lot of work. Do not let a single because they are cute. They are a handful and should not be received on a whim: Good. luck in your search)
