Dog Breeders Wiltshire Q&A

I want to find jack a poo dogs in wiltshire for sale?

Ok here's the situation i want a jack a poo because my mum has asthma and i love Jack Russell's so i heard about these cross breads which are hypoallergenic so we could have one but i cant find any breeders in the area do you know of any

You heard wrong. Jackapoos are not hypoallergenic.

A cross between a poodle and a jack russell terrier MIGHT inherit the low shedding genes from the poodle, but it might just as easily inherit the (very) high shedding genes of the jack russell terrier. The amount the dog sheds may also change as time goes by, so don't be surprised if the low-shedding puppy casts hair everywhere as it gets older!

There are plenty of low shedding breeds out there. If you are looking for something with the terrier temperament that's low-shedding, have you considered a Bedlington Terrier? Or a Kerry Blue Terrier? Or a Wheaten Terrier? Or a Dandie Dinmont Terrier? Or a....(what I'm getting at is - there's loads of low-shedding breeds out there).

Be aware though, low shedding doesn't necessarily mean low grooming. They might not shed much, but the hair can still get very matted. Grooming and exercise requirements should be taken into account before you get a dog - purebred or mix.

It's also worth noting that shedding isn't always the main problem for asthmatics. My wife also suffers from asthma - for her, it's long hair that's the biggest problem (long hair can pick up dust).

We have a greyhound, a short haired, *fairly* low-shedding breed that doesn't like to roll (and so remains fairly clean). They don't have the "terrier temperament" and are much larger than a JRT, but are wonderful companions nonetheless.

Have you considered rescue? There's some great dogs in there of all breeds and mixes, all ages, etc.. It's possible (I'd go as far as to say likely) that there'd be something suitable for your family.

There's a branch of Dogs Trust in Salisbury, but I'm sure there'll be other rescues in the area as well if you find nothing suitable in there.

Good luck.

ETA: I don't doubt that Ginger's dog is a wonderful pet. There's nothing wrong with crossbred dogs whatsoever (I've owned one myself and he was great). The reason you are being advised not to go down that route is nothing to do with snobbery. It's to do with trying to find a decent supplier and the right match for your home. Buying a dog is a big commitment, one that shouldn't be done lightly. After all, you could be spending 15 years with this animal.

It's POSSIBLE that you'll get a "jack-a-poo" and it will fit in really well. It's also possible that you get one that affects your mother's asthma, either mildly or severely. Or it might not fit in for some other reason. Don't expect the "jack-a-poo" breeder to give you any useful advice, they're interested in your money, not your family or the dogs' welfare. They'll noty tell you anything that might make them lose out on a sale.

ETA 2: I've just noticed Ginger has also recommended that you try the free ads for a puppy.

Purebred or crossbred, that is just about the **worst** place you could possibly go for a pet. Look up "puppy farm" and "backyard breeder" for reasons to avoid the free-ads when sourcing a pet.

Dog Breeders Wiltshire Q&A

Is this a BYB breeder?

http://www.dogsandpuppies.co.uk/category/pets-dogs-doguedebordeaux/region/w-uk-bristol-south-west-wiltshire-swindon/DogueDeBordeauxBeatifulMale-5877823.html?impression=normal_impression I call this lady, what questions should I ask? Thank you all! :) I am looking for Dogue de Bordeaux, I'm spending a lot of time looking for puppies to a reasonable price from 400 to 800 pounds, tend to be 800-1500, and I do not want to buy my puppy so I'm URL BYB ads on Yahoo to help boys thanks. This breed tends to have hip dysplasia, they definitely would have hip tested.

For me, if a breeder uses the achievements of the dogs in "line" puppies and their parents is not, then it is a cop out. The grand father may have been a dog successfully, but what are the parents? And although this is not always so, most of the good weather and farmers have sold their entire litter by the time they are eight weeks old and do not need to advertise their dogs on some site Online:. Ask what titles ETA parents that the dog had. Showing? Working? Country? Ask your medical tests were conducted on parents (And health 'to' simple cleaning bill that the veterinarian is not good enough) Read about diseases often are in the race. Ask about your return policy will be required to return the puppy to it if you can not keep? Is it a pet quality or show quality, probably have no idea what he's talking, it's a bad sign.
