Dog Pedigree Database Q&A
Can you explain these pedigree dogs names please?
Hi,
I am looking for a good breeder who i want to buy my border collie from and when i asked for information about her dogs pedigree she gave me the full title of the dogs she is planning to breed from so i can search for them on a database.
I'm not going to give you the actual names but made up variations.
Hello Betty at Goodbye
Hello Bruce at Goodbye
Hello Billy at Goodbye
So does this mean that this breeder's kennels are called Goodbye?
Does this mean that the dogs she is breeding from are all originally from the same kennels?
Does that mean that the dogs she is breeding are related to each other?
Do the names having "at" in them mean that they are not actually her dogs but just living at her kennels?
I'm getting confused...
Thanks
It's common to put the originating kennel name first (breeder) and the buyer's kennel name at the end (or occassionally just elsewhere in the name where it would make sense). The "at" is just a filler word - sometimes Of is used or O'Goodbye or in some breeds Von or V. (German for "of" I believe).
It most likely means this breeder bought her dogs from "Hello" kennel and they may or may not be related.
