What is the best place to get a ferret?

i don't have a shelter any where near me, so that's not an option. My friend has had luck with Petco Ferrets (both Marshall females. One is going on 10 years old, and has had no diseases.) But thing is, i hear bad things about Marshall Farm's ferrets, and i've also heard that there no more prone to disease than any other ferret. I'm concerned about adrenal disease, not for the cost, but i want a male, and i don't live near enough to a vet that if his prostate gland swells up, i might not be able to get there in time. My friend just said to simply get a female, but i really don't want a female because i hear they can get that disease more easily then the male, and there to tiny to me. But i'm stuck..and i don't know what to do. help? thankss!
