Fun things to do while riding in an arena?
We have two horses, and most of the time we just ride them in our arena, because that is the only place to ride them at our house. Once in a while we will go on a trail ride ( a southern california trail ride that is, where basically the only place you can trail ride without going too far are streets). Anyone have some fun things/games you like to do while riding in the arena? I want to do stuff like mini jumps (we ride western), different courses, and we do so some mini barrel racing with manure buckets, but...
So if you have anything that will keep me from just walking/trotting/cantering in circles, could you let me know? Thanks so much!
By the way recently i have been working with one of them with a rope, and that's fun, but it's more like a really slow training process. i still enjoy that though. thx!
Well... I run into the same issue in the winter (I live in Oregon, its nasty in the winter) So this is what we do to throw a mix in the day to day same ol same... (We show, so some of this may not be of use to you, I don't know, maybe it could be!)
1. Perfect the Western pleasure jog
2. Perfect flying lead changes
4. Try to train your horse to steer solely with your legs
5. Practice bending, and counter bending. A flexible horse is always good.
6. Play Tag
7. Pretend you are in a horse show and make up courses
8. Team barrels (I love this one! My friend and I won 1st place in this even at a play day)
9. Make up a drill pattern, put it to music, and try it out.
10. Red light Green Light
11. Teach your horse to canter or trot in place (that took me 3 weeks to perfect)

Places in Southern California?
What are some fun things to do in Southern California who are not crazy expensive, but affordable? As in San Diego, Los Angeles Beverly Hills, Malibu, etc? And San Francisco (But I do not think that's in southern California)? I'm trying to get my father's reasons why California is a fun place to go and what can go on vacation next year. When I tried to say, I could not think of any reason other than Hollywood and the beach. Help? Oh, and I have some places that are not all about Hollywood and movies and stuff because my brother wants to have fun too haha. I would also like to hear their advice and stories of his trips to California, or in some places good if you're a native. Thanks ^ _ ^
