Good Questions To Ask Dog Breeders Q&A

What questions are supposed to be asked by a dog breeder?

I was just curious we visited the woman were buying our pug pup from yesterrday and since we seem like a happy family and care alot for them she didnt seem to ask as much as she usually did

she told us that shes glad shes found a good home for her puppy because she often gets alot of"strange people"

what does she mean by that anyway?

so I was just wonderign what questions would need to be asked and what you would say to the buyers if you didnt want to sell the,m one of your pups.how would you reject them ?

This breeder is being a tad naieve to be honest. 'Happy families' can be contrived ... real story - a friend of mine sold a puppy to what she thought was just that. It was only because they left something behind in her house and she ran out to their car to give it to them, only to discover said 'happy family' putting her precious puppy into the boot (that's trunk, depending on where you are) along with several other puppies........ had she not gone out after them, goodness knows where that puppy would have ended up!!

She should ask you questions like what age your children are (if not with you - it's relevant because breeders know it's not always a great idea to send a puppy home where there are small children, under 5 years, around). whether the puppy is going to be left alone for long hours (if both are working, I'd reject them), garden, fencing, experience with dogs too. And she should point out that, hopefully, her puppies will carry endorsements (not for breeding, export etc.) which can only be lifted by her, on maturity of the puppy, provided all is well with the puppy.

Most breeders do get a 'feel' for the people who come to see their puppies - the 'strange people' comment - and there are some pretty odd folks around. Hopefully the new owners of a puppy who has received all the attention in the world before he goes home, will become good friends and not just walk off with this bundle of joy, never to be seen/heard from again.

Good Questions To Ask Dog Breeders Q&A

What I can tell if a breeder is a good idea?

I've been thinking about getting a husky puppy for a while, and decided to start looking at nurseries. I made a lot of research on this breed and know that I'm ready, but how I can know if the breeder is a good one? What kind of questions should I ask the breeder, and what kind of paper should I ask to see? Any other information about what makes a good breeder would be appreciated. I want to be sure they have a well behaved dog.

To start, make sure that dogs are health tested and approved (especially in the hips, eyes, elbows and shoulders) - this applies to both parents. Make sure the breeder is not you cheating with a healthy dog. There is a real checklist to be followed to ensure that you are working with a responsible and reputable breeder: http:// http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/breeding/breeder.html http://dogplay.com/GettingDog/checklist.html http://www.siberianhuskyguide.com/Siberian_Husky_Breeders/index.php www.siberianhuskyguide.com / Siberian_Husky_Breeders / Finding_a_quality_Siberian_Husky_breeder.php http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+1671&aid=841
