Do you think it's cruel to crop a Great Dane's ears?
I think it is cruel but my Great Dane puppy has an ear that likes to flop forward. Should I just leave it? Or would cropping them be a good idea?
i ought to add that my great dane pup has really really big ears. like dumbo ears. haha, it's cute but they get in her eyes

No if your dane puppy is over 12 weeks old. You can try taping the natural ears down.
Cropping or leaving them natural is a personal choice! Those that live in the US have that right to choose. To each their own. 
It's not painful. The pups are put under general and are fully asleep. I have never had one whine or cry in pain after surgery. They eat, sleep and play like normal puppies. You do have an option of giving them pain meds afterwards. Some may have a little discomfort.
I like both looks! I don't think it's necessary to crop puppies that are not going to be in the show ring, unless the owners really want that look and completely understand the after care. It can take over 6 months to a YEAR of taping to get them to stand. Their ears have a better chance of standing
if done between 7 to 10 weeks of age. Vet's don't crop after 12 weeks of age.
The price can range from 400-1000 depending on your area.
BTW, I tape all of my puppies ears. Vet's don't know how to tape properly. It's called GOO GONE to remove the tape. Falls right off the ears.
Ears can become Infected quickly so you have to stay on top of it. Some have reactions to the tape or not getting enough air & lack of proper care. Tapes have to be changed weekly. Ointments and powders help keep the ears clean and dry.
I have left my new puppy uncropped that I will be showing. She has a beautiful ear set and head. It will be my first natural show prospect.
If you do crop, go with a medium. Don't go with the short crops like pit bulls. That is the worst crop for a danes head.
BTW we even tape down natural ears so the don't look like Micky Mouse ears
