What did you think of your Great Dane if you have ever had one?
So today I started look through the pictures in my book ad on he internet Because since we got a VERY non-purebred dog the mom , Shelby, was Australian shepherd and Norwegian elk hound and the puppies ( NINE of them ) were Big and black Shelby was 50 pounds at 6 y/o and our young puppy is now 67 at 6 months, anyways as i was looking i found a picture that looked somewhat similar with the same description as our puppy and I swear my face turned white when i learned it was a Great Dane my father got home and i told him about the possibility and there was a pause then he muttered "good lord!" My family has quite a bit of experience with Huge dogs but we have never owned a great dane What was your experience with your great dane and do you have any tips on taking care of them
I love my 2 danes though quite different personalities except for couch potato act. Be prepared to spend plenty on food & vet care since meds for dogs only go to 80 - 100lb so you have to go double for the correct dosage. You care for them the same way you care for any dog. The main thing is to be cautious with the food you feed esp. as puppies so they don't grow too fast.(low protein & calcium)
If you are referring to the pups your dog had, in no way could they be danes since they are mixed breeds - not clear where this pup came from.

How I can know I have a pitbull mix puppy?
We recently got a puppy 4 months old from a foster home or shelter that is mentioned as a Great Dane. He is 4 months old and weighs 42 pounds. We brought him to our vet and have been very prominent since then. The vet said that at least 20% pitbull and is probably 6 months old and only get to be around 70 lbs. We called the house again and I said it is not possible because the place he came from only have Great Danes and hunting dogs as it is not possible. The problem is that do not want a pitbull though people say that this is a good race - just not what we want at all. We want a Great Dane and have always had rescue dogs past and love this idea. What race does it look? What characteristics do we seek? I have posted his picture on Flickr. Come see if your contacts, is under angieclchiro. Please help! Thanks!
There is absolutely no way, unless you know who created the dog, to say what mix with, to say nothing of the percentages. One thing people should know ... Veterinarians are experts in animal medicine, not experts in identifying the breeds of dogs. More half of the dogs in shelters labeled as pit bulls / mix has no hole in them at all.
