Which of these events and people are most important in U.S. history?
I have to do a project for my AP American history class, which involves choosing and ranking the 10 most important events and 10 most important people from the colonial era to the civil war era. My lists, as of now, both have more than 10, so which do you think I should eliminate? Also, if you were to rank them from most to least important, how would you do it? Thanks!

French and Indian War
The Revolutionary War
Signing of Declaration of Independence
Ratification of the Constitution
Bill of Rights added
War of 1812
The Louisiana Purchase
The Industrial Revolution
Completion of the Transcontinental Railroad
The Great Awakening
The Civil War
People:
George Washington
Thomas Jefferson
Benjamin Franklin
Abraham Lincoln
John Adams
John Marshall
Henry Clay
Hamilton
Andrew Jackson
Thomas Paine
Calhoun
If I had to make the events list 10, I would leave out The Great Awakening. To rank in importance, I would insert the War of 1812 and the Civil War after the Industrial Revolution and leave the list like that because that's about the order they happened. It took all of them in that order to make America.
People list, I would leave out Calhoun.
I would put Washington first, because without him America loses the Revolution and most of the events probably wouldn't of happened that way. Other than that, I don't think you can rank them in order of importance to America. They were all very important to American history and I would list them by birth date.
