If you are licensed by the usda to breed dogs and your license is revoked can you still be a hobby breeder?
I am curious.. If you are a usda licensed dog breeder and they shut you down are you still legally able to be a hobby breeder? I have tried to find USDA regulations on this matter with no luck so any info would be much appreciated!
I DID NOT GET SHUT DOWN
This question pertains to some one I know who got shut down and she thinks she can still be a hobby breeder. I think she is wrong and I'm just trying to verify that.
USDA = commercial breeder
They have pretty low standards of care, give multiple warnings and fines before EVER shutting someone down.
The likelihood they would let someone breed at all after shutting them down is slim to nil.
Edit: For the first poster- USDA is U S Dept of Agriculture-- and since dogs are livestock they fall under their jurisdiction.
Editx2: Yes, the puppymill would probably re-open somewhere else hidden and under another name.
