please explain the process of adoption at the animal shelter?
we are thinking of getting another dog to be a comanion to our family and current 2 year old female jack russell, , and would like to adopt one from the animal shelter. could someone explain the process that needs to go on to do so? could we also have the time span of how long the process takes? also, could we have some requirements for the adoption? such as what we need to have or do to be possible canidates?
they won't let you take dog home same day. all the adopts i've done took about 3-7 days.
you go in, meet dogs, pick one, fill out papers, wait.
then it's best to bring the dog you have already to see if they get along.
then they decide whether or not you can adopt dog.
in my area, the kill pounds basically adopt to anyone with a job and a family vet, because they'd rather not put dogs down.
